Osmo TopOil Clear Satin – Wooden Worktop Oil
Osmo TopOil Clear Satin provides a subtle satin sheen that enhances the natural grain and beauty of wooden worktops without overpowering their appearance. Particularly suited to Iroko and other tropical hardwoods, it offers a beautiful, natural-looking finish with added protection.
Regularly oiling your wooden worktops is essential to help protect against moisture, reducing the risk of bowing, splitting and everyday wear. Osmo TopOil offers excellent coverage compared to traditional Danish oils, with a food-safe, breathable, micro-porous finish that resists cracking, peeling and flaking.
For continued protection, check your worktop periodically to ensure water still beads on the surface. If water begins to soak in, apply an additional coat to the clean, dry surface using an Osmo Lint-Free Cloth.

How to Apply Osmo TopOil
Applying Osmo TopOil correctly is essential to protecting your wooden worktops and achieving a beautiful, long-lasting finish. Follow our simple step-by-step guide below to ensure your worktops are properly prepared, evenly oiled and protected against everyday moisture and wear.
- Ensure worktops are dry, dust-free and sanded to a maximum of 150 grit.
- Apply two coats using Osmo Lint-Free Cloths, the Osmo Hand Pad Holder or the Osmo Wood Oil Applicator Pad.
- When applying to tropical hardwoods such as Iroko, use thin layers to ensure controlled absorption.
- Allow 8–10 hours of drying time between coats.
- Apply additional coats to end grains and cut-outs, as these areas absorb oil more readily.
- As a guide, allow approximately 500ml of Osmo TopOil per 3 linear metres of worktop.
- Recoat when water no longer beads on the surface. This is generally required every 1–3 years, depending on use and maintenance.
- For maintenance, use the Osmo Wood Maintenance Pad with the Osmo Hand Pad Holder.
Please note: freshly oiled wooden surfaces typically require 2-3 weeks to fully cure and properly harden before they are ready for a traditional daily kitchen environment.
